Ardmore High School

Facts

Ardmore High School is proud of our newly remodeled facility. In April of 2004, patrons of Ardmore City Schools passed a bond that allowed for the renovation of Ardmore High School and the addition of six classrooms to the Ardmore Middle School.

The $4.3 million bond allowed updates to be made to the AHS Physical Education Building, Fine Arts Building, Multi-Purpose Building, Academic Building, and Cafeteria/Commons area.

Some of the upgrades to these areas included freshly painted walls, newly installed tile, upgraded light fixtures, new installation of fire alarms where needed, renovation of the courtyard area, and new energy efficient Geothermal heating and air systems.

The refurbished AHS library is an outstanding example of the community’s tax dollars at work. It has recently been completely furnished with beautiful new wooden bookshelves, tables, chairs, and desks. New signs direct students to the various areas of the facility. The library flows seamlessly from the school building to the outside with floor to ceiling windows that allow natural light to brighten up the environment.

Over 15,000 titles make up the collection along with a variety of magazines, journals, and newspapers. Students and faculty have access to the internet, word processing software, presentation software, and other computer applications. There are 29 computers available for staff and student use, 20 of which are located in a separate, glassed-in computer lab. Two high-tech copy machines, a laminating machine, several televisions along with VCR’s and DVD players, a digital camera/video recorder combo, an LCD projector, and a variety of educational videos are available for faculty use. The AHS library is proud to offer modern technology, timeless literature, contemporary fiction, and relevant nonfiction to the high school community.

The Ardmore High School band is one of the most active groups on campus. At the beginning of the year, the Ardmore High School Band spends a great deal of time on the field, preparing entertaining half time competition shows. The band performs at all the football games and travels to many contests throughout the marching season, always bringing home the top awards. The one we are most proud of this year is the Superior rating that was received at the OSSAA regional marching contest. Every year several students represent Ardmore High School in the All District and All State Honor bands.

The Ardmore Athletic Department prides itself in our athletes excelling in each sport they participate in, as well as in academics. We encourage all of our student-athletes to work hard in the classroom first and then athletics second. In the last five years, we have generated more than thirty scholarships worth more than 2 million dollars for our student-athletes to compete at the next level of athletics while receiving an education.

Ardmore City Schools has taken on the responsibility of providing the best atmosphere with excellent facilities and learning environments. We have a state of the art indoor workout facility that all sports are able to utilize, and we have the best football stadium in southern Oklahoma that serves middle school and high school football and the marching band. Other attributes that stand out is our 8-lane track, shot put and discus throwing area, ten tennis courts, practice gym, and the Ardmore High School Gymnasium, which seats 2,500 guests.

The first class Ardmore Athletic Department is the home of fifty-one state championships—5 football, 2 boy’s basketball, 2 girls’ basketball, 6 boy’s tennis, 7 girls’ tennis, 8 boy’s golf, 9 boy’s track, 10 girl’s track, and 2 baseball. Our first class department is in a first class school that in a first class city that believes:

“Through athletics and academics, we will teach and prepare our student-athletes by building character and developing positive attitudes and strong minds to become productive young men and ladies for today’s society.”
